Our Vision

HeAL THE LAND. NOURISH THE PEOPLE. STRENGTHEN THE COMMUNITY.

Pend d’Oreille River Ranch is growing into a living stewardship campus—a place where the land itself becomes the classroom and people of all ages can reconnect with nature, learn regenerative skills, and become part of something bigger than themselves through caring for the earth and each other. Our Vision

The Challenge

Many people today feel disconnected—from purpose, from nature, from nourishing food, and from meaningful community.

Modern life offers convenience, but often at a cost. Our food is depleted, our schedules are rushed, our lives are plugged in, and many people feel overwhelmed, anxious, or searching for deeper meaning.

Humans evolved in close-knit communities connected to land, animals, food, and shared traditions. When those connections are lost, something essential within us begins to fade.

But there is another way.

The Vision

Imagine a place where you can slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with what truly matters.

A place where you can:

• Unplug from the noise of modern life

• Reconnect with your inner voice

• Eat real, nourishing food grown with care

• Learn traditional plant medicine and herbal wisdom

• Align with nature and seasonal rhythms

• Connect deeply with animals

• Experience horse-guided empowerment and emotional healing

• Learn practical skills for self-sufficiency and regenerative living

• Preserve food using traditional methods like sourdough, fermentation, and whole-food preparation

• Build authentic community and meaningful relationships

That place exists—and it’s here.

At Pend d’Oreille River Ranch, we are creating a space for healing, learning, and reconnection with the natural world while practicing regenerative land stewardship that restores soil, forests, ecosystems, and healthy relationships with the land.

Through hands-on education, retreats, land-based learning, and community gatherings, we are restoring what many people feel they have lost: connection to food, earth, animals, community, and self.

Land, Food & Medicine

We believe food and nature provide powerful medicine.

We grow and raise food with reverence for the soil, the animals, and the people we nourish.

Here, people can learn traditional ways of living well—how to grow and preserve food, bake sourdough, ferment vegetables, prepare nourishing meals, and reconnect their bodies with the natural rhythms of the earth.

This land also offers an abundance of natural remedies. From wild-foraged teas and herbal tinctures to handcrafted tallow-based balms and skin care through our Timber & Tallow line, we are passionate about sharing traditional plant wisdom and natural medicine rooted in the land.

Animals as Teachers

We believe animals are powerful teachers.

Through Horse Guided Empowerment, guests are invited to reconnect with themselves through presence, awareness, and deep listening—guided by the intuitive wisdom of these remarkable beings.

Our animals live peaceful, free-range lives, and many people who spend time here rediscover something they’ve been missing: stillness, grounding, and a deeper sense of belonging.

Forest Stewardship

Caring for the forest is another important part of our work.

Through PRR Forest Products, we aim to honour every tree by using it thoughtfully and responsibly. Lumber is used to build cabins, learning spaces, and structures on the land. Smaller materials become firewood, branches and needles are chipped and returned to the soil, and nothing useful goes to waste.

Whenever possible, extra wood and offcuts are shared with the community through donation-based programs that support local food banks.

Our goal is to demonstrate a cycle of stewardship where forests are cared for, resources are used responsibly, and communities benefit from the land.

Growing the Vision

This work is also supported through the Rooted in Nature Stewardship Society, an initiative dedicated to regenerative land stewardship, ecological restoration, and land-based education.

The Society helps make many of our programs accessible and affordable so more people can experience the benefits of reconnecting with nature, learning practical skills, and participating in land stewardship.

Our vision is simple: as we heal the land, we help heal people.

By restoring ecosystems, growing nutrient-dense food, and sharing knowledge, we hope to strengthen both human health and community resilience.

Our long-term dream is to grow an abundance of nourishing food—enough not only to sustain our farm and programs, but to share with families in need throughout our community.

Together, we are working toward thriving ecosystems, healthy people, and a healthy planet.

Our Vision in Action

Heal the land.

Through regenerative farming, forest stewardship, and ecological restoration.

Nourish the people.

By growing nutrient-dense food, sharing traditional knowledge, and creating spaces for healing and connection.

Strengthen the community.

By making land-based learning accessible, sharing abundance, and working together to care for the earth.

The Regenerative Cycle

Everything we do at Pend d’Oreille River Ranch follows a simple cycle:

Healthy Land → Nourishing Food → Healthy People → Strong Communities → More Stewards of the Land

When the land thrives, people thrive—and thriving people care for the land.

➺ Our hope is that this land will grow into a place where caring for the earth helps heal people, and where healthy land, nourishing food, and strong community continue to support one another for generations to come.

We would love to hear your ideas, connect, and collaborate to build something truly meaningful.
